Creating swap partition manually

Use gparted to create extended partition size 2013MB
then under that partition create linux swap
(OK to leave and lose 1MB in front)
Apply and exit gparted
Next we need to make it persistent on every boot
In terminal type BLKID to copy swap userID
gksudo gedit /etc/fstab
paste userID if different
reboot
to check if swap is automatically on
In terminal type swapon --summary
or type cat /proc/swaps
There should be an entry otherwise you are screwed :-)
